Phumelelo Mbele aka 'SUPA' is an award-winning South African born film director, creative director and storyteller. Phumelelo's passion for telling stories that deeply matter and grow awareness, has lead him to engage withcultural phenomena and socio- economic issues.

 

His conceptual approach has seen him work with renowned agency Herdbuoys McCann Erickson, FCB, Jupiter Drawing Room, GREY, Moriss Jones, TBWA, Hunt and Lascaris South Africa and New York.

He has created content for brands such as Converse, MTV Base and Channel O, Smirnoff Storm, Legit, Nikon, Standard Bank and DSTV.

 

Since graduating from Chelsea College of Art & Design’s studying industrial design , New York Film Academy (NYFA) and AAA School of Advertising his work has won awards, such as SAMA,

Channel O, Silver Loerie for Best Radio, Gold Loerie for Best PSA, Gold

Loerie for Best Art Direction, ADFocus, Pendorings for Best Original Content and nominations for a Clio Award, D&AD professional Award and MTV Base. He has directed award winning TV shows, such as The Lab, Hardcopy, Jacob’s Cross and TV films for Mnet Jackport.
